Evolutionary Integral Relationships

7 Days | 7 Teachers | 49 Modules

July 17th – July 24th | Berkeley, California

The goals of this event are simple and clear:
to practice love and relationships in an evolutionary context.

We live in a context where many of us have outgrown traditional forms of religion. This means that pre-modern, ethnocentric versions of our world’s traditions no longer have the capacity to meet our modern and postmodern needs. The integrative space of a World Spirituality allows our great religious traditions to evolve from ethnocentric to world-centric, and even to kosmocentric consciousness. World Spirituality allows us all to move forward together, beyond the limitations of traditional religion, while still embracing all of the valuable insights and gifts of the past.

Our annual practice retreat of love and activism is itself an example of World Spirituality practice: it is designed to engage you cognitively, inter-personally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We will employ a balance of theoretical and experiential, as well as individual and group, learning sessions—all woven together into a vital, comprehensive, and balanced awareness.

Marc Gafni & David Riordan from Integral Life Discuss Our Annual Practice Retreat

Cutting-Edge Event Format

Everything we do in the iEvolve: Center for World Spirituality context serves the activist intention of reconstructing a context of meaning, commitment, and profound pleasure, which is a sustainable path of joy and responsibility for the hundreds of millions of people in the world who can no longer find their exclusive home in one of the old religions.

The explicit intention for our seven days together is to create a space of deep practice and community which facilitates significant spiritual breakthroughs for individual participants, for the collective intelligence of the World Spirituality community, in the evolution of consciousness for the sake of all sentient beings.

Emerging from the deepest insights and practices of the great traditions, merged with leading edge insights from neuroscience, psychology, and all the modern and post-modern ways of knowing, we are enacting a trans-lineage World Spirituality.

We will also focus on helping you develop and strengthen your own World Spirituality practice. Each day will consist of deep engagement in dharma (spiritual teachings), practice, and experiential and relational exercises, including:

  • Meditation
  • Prayer Reloaded
  • Chant & Kirtan
  • Yoga, Psyche, & Movement
  • Sacred Text Study: An Integral Approach
  • Practice of Enacting a “Higher We”
Investment: $849

The Psychology of the Spiritual Path with Mariana Caplan

10am – 9:30pm

Psychological transformation and spiritual awakening are inseparably one process, particularly in the Western world where our neurosis and spiritual gifts are often closely linked with one another. The emergence of an unprecedented amount of spiritual possibilities in the Western world has been accompanied by an equally unparalleled amount and variations of spiritual pathologies. It is through the cultivation of “discernment,” known as the crowning jewel on the spiritual path, combined with effective tools for embodied psychospiritual transformation, that we can successfully navigate the challenge of the great labyrinth of life often referred to as the “spiritual path.”

Interweaving psychospiritual theory, practice, and relational exercises, the themes for our day will include:

  • Yoga & Psyche: learning how to utilizing yogic exercises to open the body in order to work with the psychological and traumatic content stored within our cellular structure (for beginning and advanced yoga practitioners alike)
  • 10 Spiritually Transmitted Diseases: how to recognize and treat these common spiritual pathologies
  • Spiritual Bypassing: how to recognize the ways we use and misuse spirituality to avoid facing ourselves
  • The Importance of Psychological Work for Western Practitioners of Spirituality
  • The Question of the Spiritual Teacher: the perils and rewards of choosing or not choosing a spiritual teacher

Awakening As Evolution: The Terrible Truth and the Wonderful Secret with Terry Patten

10am – 9:30pm

As we awaken, many of us feel a vocational calling — a call to live a new kind of life, one that stands truly beyond the common habits and the cultural mind of our time. Our world is in crisis, and it calls on each of us, personally. It is asking something of us — something truly new.
Conventional philosophy, spirituality, activism, philanthropy and entrepreneurialism are insufficient. A new Integral evolutionary spirit is called for — one that integrates the best of leading edge philosophical insight, spiritual depth, social activism, and entrepreneurial innovation.

Terry will guide participants in connecting with the emergent consciousness, clarity, power, and passion of Integral and evolutionary consciousness. And in the process, we’ll feel how the call of evolution is speaking to us — personally — in real terms. Our evolutionary leadership requires that we make a direct energetic connection with the impulse of evolution itself. Making that connection is the rational and trans-rational “spiritual initiation” of this time. Experience how it can inspire and empower you to live your life at a higher octave.

You’ll also have a chance to begin to tune in to your personal expression of that universal impulse. Each one of us has a role. We matter. Even if you are not an extraverted person and even if you don’t usually think of yourself as a “leader” you are not a bystander and you are not secondary. What is asked of you? How does that coincide with your personal evolution and self-actualization?

We will discover our alignment to something glorious and sane, something much greater than ourselves, something that can authentically and effectively help us meet life free and happy, optimistic and grounded, committed and realistic—even as we confront what appear to be the most sobering and difficult challenges ever faced by human beings.

Walking a Mile in Boy’s and Men’s Moccasins with Warren Farrell

10am – 9:30pm

When we love integrally, we hear our loved one’s experience intellectually and feel it emotionally. Dr. Warren Farrell will guide you during this day-long experiential training and here is a little of what you will hear, feel, and experience individually, in partner work, and in large group work:

*Why Raising Our Sons Successfully in the Past Differs from Raising Our Sons Successfully for their Future.
*The Father’s Catch-22: Why what our fathers did to love us took them away from our love, and took us away from their love.
*Why men who earn more see their earnings differently than women see them.
*Why boys and men experience their sexual powerlessness more than their sexual power.
*Why both sexes fall in love with the members of the other sex who are the least capable of loving.
*Why men appear to be less interested in love, but are 10 times as likely as women to commit suicide when their partner dies.
*Why men can’t express feelings–and what you can do about it.
*Why some of the best men are most afraid of commitment.
*What sex means to men.
*What makes men feel loved.
*Why men are today about where women were a half century ago.

Devotional Practice on the Spiritual Path with Sally Kempton

10am – 1pm

Sally Kempton offers a pragmatic post-traditional perspective on devotional practice, layered with wisdom, humor and contemplation. What does it really mean to be in ongoing relationship with spirit, and why is devotion necessary for an integrated inner life? How can you simultaneously experience the divine as your inmost self, and as a beloved other? Why is devotional practice important? What is the role of surrender, chant, visualization, dialogue in the path of the heart? How does your inner devotional practice affect your other relationships?

Exploring an Evolutionary WE Space with Dustin DiPerna

2:30 – 9:30pm

If there is any truth to the phrase the “next Buddha is the Sangha”, we must learn to engage new evolutionary forms of love and relationship beyond the romantic dyad. We must uncover new technologies that allow us to move into an evolutionary WE space together as a collective. Among other requisites, this new form of WE requires that each of us show up fully as Unique Selves so that we might fully enter a Unique We.

In this new form evolutionary We space, each of us has an obligation to love even more fully, to offer even greater vulnerability, to be even more transparent with not only our selves but also with everyone with whom we engage. As Unique Selves we can each bring our deepest gifts and full perspectives to the electric center of consciousness that emerges through each of us as we create a symphony of wisdom together.

In this day of teaching, we will explore a series of exercises that take us deeper into our own individual and collective shadow. Finding together both our shadows of darkness and golden shadows of light, the exercises will help to catalyze us deeper into new forms of evolutionary intimacy. Together, we can begin to co-create the next grooves in consciousness that will help to set the stage for a true World Spirituality.

Living the Life of Eros
with Marc Gafni, Sharon Lyon, & Bruce Lyon

Friday & Saturday: 10am – 9:30pm
Sunday: 10am – 12pm

What can erotic love teach us about the Divine? In modern Western thought, the sexual is often seen as being the opposite of the spiritual. Yet according to Marc Gafni, best-selling author, visionary leader, and World Spirituality teacher, when we understand and access the rich interplay between the erotic and the sexual we can tap into a limitless reservior of spiritual wisdom. “The sexual models the erotic,” as Dr. Marc explains,” but it does not exhaust it.” Dr. Marc Gafni invites you to accept Eros as your spiritual teacher — a teacher that will guide you with sweetness and tenderness toward “being a lover” in every aspect of your life.

These practices are part of an emergent World Spirituality, implicitly practiced by people across the globe and are now being articulated and consciously evolved, as Spirit’s next audacious and necessary move.

In World Spirituality, we move beyond the ethnocentric traditions, embrace their best medicines, integrate then with the deepest and most powerful insights of modernity and post modernity – all set in an evolutionary context of joy and responsibility – and there you have it, the Eros and Urgency of Spirit seeking to emerge in the practices of our lives, beyond the religions, as a World Spirituality based on Integral Principles.

Join us at the leading edge – with radical humility and gentle audacity – as we catalyze the practice community of Integrity and Love that we all hope for and all need to make our lives an evolutionary triumph!
